three-day cross-border cycling tour
The Niers Cycle Route takes you along the banks of the river Niers through the Niederrhein region to Gennep in the Netherlands, where the Niers flows into the Maas. Enjoy the Niederrhein landscape on this cycle route, which is around one hundred kilometers long.
The starting point for your cycle tour is the beautiful flower town of Straelen. On the way, you will make a detour to the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer. With its magnificent St Mary's Basilica and the famous Chapel of Grace, Kevelaer is one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in Germany. The new St. Jakob brine garden with its graduation tower offers the perfect environment to unwind and leave everyday life behind for a while.
In Goch, you will find the birthplace of the Steyler missionary Arnold Janssen. The signposted city tour takes you through the centre of Goch in the footsteps of St. Arnold Janssen.
From Goch towards Arcen, you cycle along the Maas and through the De Maasduinen National Park with its extensive moors and heathlands. The castle gardens in Arcen are well worth a visit.
