Premium hiking trails along the water in the "Wasser.Wander.Welt."

Embark on a sensory adventure through the partly untouched nature of the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park on this hiking trip. Discover rare plant species such as the yellow-flowering bog orchid or the sundew, which stretches its colorful tentacles into the air, on the approximately 16 km circular trail of the Elmpter Schwalmbruch. In August and September, a sea of purple flowering heather enchants the senses. Here you will also find the largest juniper heath on the left bank of the Niederrhein. Along the Schwalm, you can listen to the song of the reed warbler or watch the colorful dragonflies hovering above the water. Animal watchers will get their money's worth, as wild boars, deer and foxes regularly make an appearance.

From the observation tower, you have a fantastic panoramic view of this beautiful corner of the world.

Our second hiking trip takes you on a 6.5 km walk around the lakes Borner See and Hariksee. On the Two-Lakes-Trail, you can explore the typical Niederrhein landscape with its fields, wet meadows, numerous lakes, and water mills. In the village of Born, you will find the 15th-century Borner Mill, where grain was grounded until 1960. From here, you hike along the lake Borner See, watching chattering ducks before reaching the lake Hariksee through gnarled oak forests. Take a break at the Mühlrather Mill, a former flax and oil mill, and listen to the clattering of the old mill wheels. After a lively game of mini golf, you can hire a boat or take a trip on the “Patschel” excursion boat across the lake Hariksee. The route takes you back to the starting point along the rivers Laarer Bach and Schwalm streams.
