Acclaimed contemporary artist Tim Berresheim takes you on a cycle route full of virtual surprises to his home region, the Heinsberg area. At 14 locations along the 90-kilometre circular cycle route that are significant to him, state-of-the-art technology, and the environment merge to create fascinating augmented reality artworks that can be experienced and even walked through using a specially developed, free app.

"The idea of combining contemporary art with high technology in the places where I grew up was a personal, emotional undertaking for me. I am delighted that I can now share the augmented reality collaborates with visitors to the Heinsberg region, as well as my passion for cycling", says Tim Berresheim, explaining the basic idea behind his pictorial journey.

Established cycle paths lead to the 14 stations of his striking digital art. Whether you are interested in art, tech-savvy or simply curious, with the help of the app, everyone can experience a personal perspective on the art, view the works from 360 degrees, immerse themselves, generate their own version and even capture it.

Experience well-known and lesser-known places in the Heinsberg region from a whole new perspective. Cycle through lush green meadows and golden yellow fields, along the banks of the Rur, past idyllic lakes, castles, palaces, and cultural monuments. Not only the keep in Wassenberg, the Museum of Art and Regional History in Heinsberg BEGAS HAUS, or the Selfkantbahn, the last multi-track narrow-gauge steam railway in North Rhein-Westphalia, invite you to stop and take a look.

"Tim Berresheim's Picture Journey" is well signposted thanks to the route logo integrated into the existing cycle path signage. However, the "TB – Bilderreise AR" app navigates you to the works of art via short-range navigation. A pocket guide, which allows you to try out the app's AR function in advance, also provides orientation.
